Thunderstorm

Last Friday (I guess that would be June 8), we had a wild thunderstorm at about 3:20 in the afternoon. We weren't home as I was picking up Haden from school. While we were driving to school, the clouds got darker and darker. Arriving at school, we ran inside just to miss the hard rain, thunder and lightning, and the wind. It stormed for about 10 minutes and then it just rained for a couple of hours.

Apparently, back at home our great big maple tree tore in half, right in the middle. We lost the top half, which is now lying on the ground.

I don't think we lost too much shade. I'm sure some year we'll have to chop the rest of it down. I'm not looking forward to that day. So, until that day, we will still get to enjoy racoons peeking at us from the great big hollow hole in the middle of the trunk.
